Shelly Ryan is a graduate of St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy achieved in 1989. She currently possess seventeen years of professional, broad-based, field experience as a Physical Therapist including acute care, long term acute care, rehabilitation
outpatient, home health care, long term care and skilled nurs-ing facilities. She has gained valuable work and training experience in the various specialty areas such oncology rehabilitation, hippo-therapy, industrial rehabilitation, ergonomics, injury prevention education, pet therapy, wound care, neurological re-education
and facilitation, and in the past five years manual lymph drainage.
Shelly began her Lymphedema training with a continuing education course in 2001 and later received her Manual Lymph Drainage certification in 2004 from the world renowned Dr. Vodder School of North America. She has since worked to develop the
Lymphedema program for a long term acute care facility where she was soon promoted to Lymphedema Program Director in 2003. Under her leadership, the program evolved to become a treatment center for extreme cases of lymphedema in both in-patient and out-patient settings. In recognition for her success in the differential
treatment of Lipo-Lymphedema, the National Lymphedema Network awarded her an invitation to be a faculty member at the 2006 National NLN Conference in Nashville in addition to publishing an article in a 2006 edition of the Lymph Link Journal. In pursuit towards advancing treatment methods, Shelly recently became certified in
Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization; a cutting-edge adjunct to Manual Lymph Drainage.
